HELENA, Mont. – The Montana Republican Party (MTGOP) Executive Board passed a resolution on Tuesday placing 42 Republican legislative candidates on its “Honor Roll” for their fidelity to the principles outlined in the Republican Party platform and efforts to represent Montana Republican voters.

The MTGOP’s Conservative Governance Committee (CGC) developed an exhaustive process to screen candidates who filed for election to the legislature as Republicans, including distribution of a questionnaire based on the Republican platform and its principles.

The resolution “confirms that the CGC’s Honor Roll Candidates demonstrated support and willingness to advance the principles stated in the Republican Platform” and “recognizes the Honor Roll Candidates in their efforts to represent Montanans and the Montana Republican Party and its principles.”

Additionally, the resolution acknowledges that faithfulness to the conservative principles and policies found in the Republican Platform is necessary to restore and maintain the trust of the Montana Republican electorate.

“The Honor Roll Candidates deserve recognition for standing firmly behind the Republican platform and its principles, as well as supporting the MTGOP and its grassroots base of Montana Republicans,” MTGOP Chairman Art Wittich said.
