HELENA, Mont. – On Tuesday night, Governor-elect Greg Gianforte received a historic mandate from the people of Montana, winning the election with the largest margin for any first term governor in 100 years.
Governor-elect Gianforte won Tuesday night’s election with a 12.8% margin over Lieutenant Governor Cooney. The last time a first term candidate for governor in Montana won with a greater margin was in the election of 1920.
Chairman Don “K” Kaltschimdt issued the following statement in response:
“Winning with the largest margin of victory for a first term governor in 100 years, Governor-elect Gianforte earned a historic mandate from the people of Montana to implement his clear vision for our state. Montana looks forward to Governor-elect Gianforte leading our comeback, getting our economy going, and creating more opportunity for hard-working Montana families.”
