RELEASE: Statement on Bullock’s Call for a Special Session

HELENA, MONT. – Chairman Debra Lamm released the following statement today after Governor Bullock called for a special session and announced tax increases to address the budget shortfall:

The buck stops with Governor Bullock: He mismanaged the state budget and spent beyond our means. We need to get our spending in order and that means cutting the bloat and bureaucracy in Helena, identifying savings, and making responsible and targeted spending cuts that protect the most vulnerable.”

I strongly warn Montanans not to be fooled by Bullock’s call for temporary tax increases. There’s no such thing as temporary tax increases, and if he gets his way, there is no doubt in my mind that these temporary tax increases will become permanent tax increases. Montanans should not have to pay the price with higher taxes because of Bullock’s political games and reckless spending spree.”

RELEASE: Bullock to Blame for Montana’s Fiscal Disaster

HELENA, MONT. – Chairman Debra Lamm released the following statement today on the fiscal disaster Governor Bullock has left the state in:

I find it completely unacceptable that Governor Bullock refuses to take responsibility for the fiscal disaster he created. Bullock’s liberal spending spree has finally caught up with him: He inherited a surplus of over $500 million, ran it into the ground, and now we’re left with a tax revenue short-fall of $75 million. This is beyond fiscal mismanagement – this is complete incompetence. Bullock failed to show fiscal discipline and failed to prioritize our spending needs. It’s absolutely clear that responsibility for this fiscal disaster lies squarely with Governor Bullock.”

MTN News: State Budget Headed for Deficit Spending … Tax Revenues Not Meeting Expectations’

The Bullock administration will announce Wednesday it’s asking most state agencies for plans to cut 10 percent of their budget, to avoid deficit spending as state tax revenue flags and firefighting costs escalate, MTN News has learned.

Any spending cuts ordered by the governor apparently would be in addition to nearly $70 million in cuts already imposed when state revenue failed to meet certain targets on June 30.

The law requiring the latter cuts also transferred $30 million out of the state’s firefighting fund to cover budget shortfalls elsewhere in state government.

MTDEMS Funding Hillary’s Gun Control Campaign Ads

In her latest campaign ads, Hillary Clinton is calling for ‘commonsense gun laws.’

This is code for: More gun control.

You know who’s partially funding Hillary’s ads? The Montana Democrat Party.

This should hardly come as a surprise, and simply reinforces the point that there’s no difference between where Hillary Clinton and the Montana Democrat Party stand on the Second Amendment: They want to take our guns away.

Like the well-rehearsed career politicians that they are, both Hillary and Gov. Steve Bullock falsely reassure voters of their strong support for the Second Amendment.

The truth is: Their rhetoric doesn’t match their actions.

Hillary supports a nationwide firearm ban; and when a bill came across Gov. Bullock’s desk to prevent Montana from enforcing a federal firearm ban, he VETOED the bill not just once – but twice!

Bullock has no commonsense for thinking it’s a good idea to allow federal officials to force Montana law enforcement to carry out a Hillary Clinton executive order to confiscate means of personal defense that she doesn’t care for.

If you’re concerned about our 2nd Amendment Rights please forward this email to your family and friends so they know that Bullock’s actions put him right in league with Hillary Clinton’s efforts to ‘take our guns away.’

We face no greater threat than a Hillary Clinton presidency and we need a strong leader in the Governor’s office to ensure our 2nd Amendment Rights will always be defended and protected.

You can’t trust Bullock to be the strong leader we need on the 2nd Amendment: He has a “C” rating from the NRA, he VETOED a series of gun-rights bills, and worst of all he wants to ‘take our guns away.’

With an “A” rating from the NRA and endorsements from the Gun Owners of America, Montana Shooting Sports Association and the NRA, Greg Gianforte will the strong Governor Montana needs to always fight and defend our constitutional right to keep and bear arms.

Follow the Money: Bullock Will Shut Down ALL of Colstrip

When you hear Governor Bullock talk about standing up and defending Montana jobs, it amounts to nothing more than the political doublespeak you would expect from a career politician.

You just have to follow the money to see who Governor Bullock is beholden to …

The fringe enviro groups that successfully shut down Colstrip Units 1 & 2 are also funding Bullock’s campaign, with board members of the MEIC and Sierra Club lining up behind him.

Bullock’s also benefiting from $500,000 in dark money from another fringe enviro group whose main backer bragged about their most recent success being shutting down Colstrip Units 1 & 2.

Who is Bullock beholden to? The money says it’s these fringe, anti-Colstrip enviro groups. Bullock’s happy to do their bidding when he get six figure checks as a reward.

Here’s what Montana’s future looks like if Bullock is re-elected: ALL of Colstrip will close and thousands of high-paying Montana jobs will be lost forever.

When Bullock makes promises to stand with ‘Montana energy and our jobs,’ it should be clear by now that those promises are empty promises.

Bullock’s NOT fighting for Colstrip or any Montana jobs.

FACT CHECK: Bullock’s Lies Come in Five

Can you believe how dishonest Governor Bullock’s new ad is?

(1) Bullock falsely casts himself as a believer in “fiscal discipline and accountability.

  • Under Bullock, government spending has increased by over 25 percent – $800 million – while the gross state product grew by only 9 percent.
  • Clearly, Bullock forgot about his administration’s $1 billion accounting error last summer – and how no one was held accountable or lost their job because of it.
  • Don’t forget how the company that employs the wife of Bullock’s budget director secured a $23 million government leasing contract without a competitive bidding process or looking at alternative sites.

(2) Next, Bullock beats his chest for working to “balance the budget every year.”

  • Governor – It’s a constitutional requirement and it’s carried out by the Montana Legislature!
  • Thank goodness we do have a balanced budget requirement because without it he’d never balance the budget!

(3) Bullock then makes outrageous claims about Montana’s “$300 million rainy day fund.”

  • There’s no $300 million rainy day fund in Montana. It’s all but gone – reduced to maybe $100 million – and with Montana’s negative economic growth since the end of last year and declining tax revenues, it’s entirely possible that we will run a deficit next year.

(4) Bullock also goes on to praise himself for “no new taxes.”

  • Well, Bullock VETOED tax relief bill after tax relief bill that would have returned money to Montana families – he kept your hard-earned money so he could increase government spending and bring more government into our lives.
  • One of the bills Bullock VETOED would have lowered tax rates for ALL Montanans by eliminating special interest tax credits for his fringe environmental cronies – who coincidentally are now funding his campaign.

(5) Finally, Bullock’s living in a liberal’s state of denial when he says he “cracked down” on wasteful spending.

  • Under Bullock, state spending has increased a whopping $800 million over the last 4 years!
  • Yes – $800 million! Proving he is no responsible steward of Montana’s fiscal health.

Those are all of Bullock’s five 5 outrageous lies in just one TV commercial!

Montanans deserve better. VOTE Greg Gianforte for Governor. Greg’s proven record of success and creating Montana jobs will bring real leadership to the Governor’s office.

Bullock, Hillary No Friend to Gun Owners

The outcome of this election will truly define what happens to our Second Amendment Rights.

Hillary Clinton supports Obama’s gun-control regulations, said a nationwide firearm ban would be worth considering, and believes the Supreme Court is wrong on the Second Amendment.

Hillary’s views aren’t just her own; they are shared by the Democrat Party.

Here in Montana, Governor Bullock is neither the strong leader you can trust on the Second Amendment nor will he protect and defend our right to keep and bear arms.

At every turn, Bullock proudly stands with Hillary Clinton and the Democrats’ gun control agenda – not with Montanans and our Second Amendment Rights:

  • Bullock received a “C” rating from the NRAa “C” rating!
  • Bullock and Bloomberg’s anti-Second Amendment groups are working together in Montana to advance their gun control agenda and take away our firearms.
  • Bullock VETOED several common sense gun rights bills over the last 4 years.

Most disturbing of all, Bullock VETOED a bill that guaranteed under the 10th Amendment that Montana would never have to enforce a federal firearm or ammo ban.

Bullock VETOED this bill not once but twice – and called it “completely unnecessary.”

When you VETO a bill that protects our Second Amendment Rights and call it “completely unnecessary,” that really says all you need to know about where you stand on this issue.

Let’s show Bullock where Montana stands on the Second Amendment this November.

Remember to VOTE for Greg Gianforte as Governor, he is endorsed by and received an “A” rating from the NRA and Greg is someone Montanans can always trust to fight for our Second Amendment Rights.

Bullock’s Actions Far Worse Than Hillary’s: Deleted ALL Emails

It has now been revealed that Governor Bullock destroyed all his official state emails while serving as Attorney General similar to how Hillary Clinton deleted her emails while serving as U.S. Secretary of State.

Actually, Bullock’s actions are far worse than what Hillary Clinton did. She erased some of her emails. Bullock erased all of them.

They no longer exist” – That’s the official word from the Governor’s office when a freedom of information request was filed asking for Bullock’s email communications.

By deliberately engaging in the destruction of every last one of his public documents, Bullock violated the Montana Constitution and his oath of office:

The Montana Constitution clearly states, “No person shall be deprived of the right to examine documents or to observe the deliberations of all public bodies or agencies of state government and its subdivisions, except in cases in which the demand of individual privacy clearly exceeds the merits of public disclosure.”

This raises some very important questions: What’s Bullock’s motivation behind deleting all his emails? What’s he trying to hide or cover up?

In May, it was reported that Bullock and his staff “were using personal email accounts to conduct state business” a la the Hillary Clinton way.

Using a private email account, Bullock was able to conceal official state business from the public that would otherwise be subject to an information request if it had been communicated from his government email account.

Deleted emails …. Private email accounts … Bullock and Hillary’s actions run counter to the honesty and trust we expect from our elected officials.

The Juneau, Bullock Campaign Strategy: Lie to Win

Dishonest Denise is so desperate to win in November she has resorted to repeatedly telling outright lies about Ryan Zinke’s public lands record. Don’t expect Denise Juneau to apologize for her misleading claims at her public lands rally this morning. These false attacks from Dishonest Denise, Governor Bullock, and the Montana Democrat Party are all they have to offer because they believe they can only win by deceiving and lying to voters about their opponent’s record.

Independent Fact Checkers looked into Denise Juneau’s dishonest statements and concluded: “Juneau’s claim is false. The bill that Zinke voted for does not authorize the sale of any federal lands.

Then the Billings Gazette investigated Denise Juneau’s outrageous claims and discovered them to be: “A false attack … misses the mark … Zinke neither voted to sell off nor transfer Montana’s public lands.”

Juneau knows she’s been caught in a lie – Calls from the Billings Gazette to explain herself and why she would so blatantly lie have gone unanswered.

Now, Bullock and his dark money allies are making similar, completely false attacks against Greg Gianforte on his public lands and stream access record.

The truth is: Montana Democrats are the ones who sold-off Montana’s public lands and blocked access: Bullock voted to sell-off thousands of acres of public lands alongside Denise Juneau and is working to shut down access at Hell Creek, Denise Juneau voted to sell more than 7,000 acres of public lands to private landowners, and even Schweitzer blocked public lands access near his home at Mullan Pass.

Just like Dishonest Denise, Governor Bullock spreads these false attacks because he wants Montanans to be distracted from his failed record:

  • Montana ranks 49th in the nation in salaries, and wages for Montana millennials are dead last in the country.
  • Nearly 800 Montana jobs have been lost in our coal and timber industries in the past year alone.
  • Bullock has also blocked the creation of thousands of Montana jobs and 7,000 Montana jobs are expected to be lost in the coming years because of his job-killing energy agenda.

Denise Juneau, Governor Bullock, and the Montana Democrat Party don’t share Montana values – not when they speak such untruthful statements they know to be false and that have been repeatedly debunked.

Juneau and Bullock think nothing of their actions and their deceit will only worsen as the election grows near. Montanans deserve so much better then to be misled by these dishonest career politicians.

Bullock & Hillary Will Finish What Obama Started: Shut Down Colstrip

Montana was devastated to learn yesterday that Colstrip Units 1 & 2 will be shut down because of Obama’s job-killing energy agenda and the work of the fringe environmental movement. This is heartbreaking news for the livelihoods of the Colstrip community and its workers, and for all Montanans. We will now see more good-paying Montana jobs lost, critical funding for our communities dry up, and higher electricity bills.

This is an assault on our way of life and Montanans should be outraged by the complete dishonesty from Governor Bullock – making even more misleading claims – that he will “stand with the workers and the community of Colstrip.”

You take one look at Bullock’s record and it’s crystal clear: Bullock has abandoned the Colstrip community and all Montana coal workers.

Bullock’s faux outrage is about protecting his re-election chances – not the workers of Colstrip and the thousands of Montanans who have a good-paying job because of our Montana-made energy.

If Bullock and Hillary win in November they will finish what Obama started: Shutting down Colstrip and putting thousands of Montanans out of work.

We need your support today with a small donation of $10, $15, or even $25 to fight back against this job-killing energy agenda. Please help us stop Bullock and Hillary before it’s too late!
Bullock’s Actions Threaten Colstrip, Thousands of Montana Jobs

  • Bullock can’t claim to stand with the Colstrip community and its workers when he supports Hillary Clinton for president – who brags about putting a lot of coal miners and coal companies out of business.
  • Bullock promised Obama’s job-killing energy regulations would NOT shut down Montana’s coal plants. Well, that’s completely false: Colstrip Units 1 & 2 will be closed forever and the Corette power plant in Billings was demolished – eliminating 35 Montana jobs – because of these job-killing energy regulations.
  • 7,000 Montana jobs lost and a $1.5 billion hit to our economy is the reality we face if we don’t stop the Obama-Hillary-Bullock job-killing energy agenda in November.
  • In fact, Montana already lost 200 jobs at our coal mines, railroad companies, and on the Crow Reservation this year as a result of these job-killing energy regulations.
  • Earlier this year, Bullock permanently killed the Otter Creek coal jobs project – blocking 4,400 high-paying Montana jobs from being created. Going back to his days as Attorney General, Bullock was dead set against this jobs project.
  • Bullock never even took the fight to Oregon when they considered and eventually passed a bill to cut off all the coal-generated electricity it receives from Colstrip–threatening its entire operation and thousands of Montana jobs.
  • When Washington passed a bill to ban the use of Colstrip’s coal-generated electricity, Bullock was silent for weeks on this issue stating he had no plans to ask Washington’s Governor to VETO the measure. It was only after Greg Gianforte put the pressure on Bullock to do more to protect Colstrip that he decided to reverse course and ask for a VETO – discreetly mentioning this in an op-ed as if he didn’t want too many people to know about it.

Bullock: Montanans WON’T Decide the Election

Dark Money Chairman Governor Bullock has some serious explaining to do when he says: “Montanans, not big money, must decide elections,” given all the secret, big money he has raised for his re-election campaign.

For the last two years, Bullock has served as Chairman and Finance Chairman of the Democratic Governors Association (DGA), raising unlimited corporate cash and dark money to benefit HIS campaign.

Bullock’s tenure at the DGA is already paying dividends with this group now running attack ads tearing down his opponent with money Bullock helped raise.

Bullock’s entire re-election campaign depends on him tapping into all the corporate cash, dark money, and special-interest PAC money he has been so busy raising:

  • Bullock raised $30 million– mostly all from corporate donations– last year as Chairman of the Democratic Governors Association (DGA).
  • Bullock also raised nearly $5 million in dark money as DGA Chair.
  • Bullock has taken almost $80,000 in special-interest PAC money (on top of the special-interest PAC money benefiting him from the Montana Democratic Party).

It was also recently reported that Bullock has even been exploiting contribution limits that allow him to launder corporate and dark money into his campaign.

Setting aside his blatant hypocrisy on secret, big-money, it’s clear Bullock intends to have this election decided by HIS corporate cash, dark money, and special interest PAC money– not Montanans.
